The Mystery Lights a vu le jour à Salinas, en Californie, lorsque Mike Brandon et Luis Alfonso Solano (LA), deux amis unis par leur amour du garage rock psychédélique, du punk et du skateboard, ont décidé de créer leur propre style de rock “n” roll déjanté. En 2012, ils ont déménagé à New York, où ils ont complété leur formation avec l'arrivée de trois personnes partageant les mêmes idées : Alex Amini à la basse, Zachary Butler à la batterie et Lily Rogers aux claviers.
Avec des concerts réputés pour leur énergie viscérale et leur intensité implacable, ne laissant pratiquement aucun répit entre les chansons, ils ont écumé d'innombrables lieux de prédilection et salles DIY à New York, se constituant rapidement un public local fervent. Leur succès a attiré l'attention de Daptone Records, qui les a signés sur leur label rock Wick Records en 2015. Depuis, The Mystery Lights a sorti une série d'albums - The Mystery Lights (2016), Too Much Tension! (2019) et Purgatory (2024) - chacun élargissant leur palette sonore tout en restant fidèle à leur style brut et sans fioritures.

The Mystery Lights began in Salinas, California, when friends Mike Brandon and Luis Alfonso Solano (LA), united by their love for psych garage rock, punk, and skateboarding, set out to craft their own unhinged brand of rock ’n’ roll. In 2012, they moved to New York, where they went on to fully realize their lineup with the addition of three like-minded individuals: Alex Amini on bass, Zachary Butler on drums, and Lily Rogers on keys.
With a live show known for its visceral energy and relentless assault — leaving little to no stoppage between songs — they barreled through countless NYC haunts and DIY venues, quickly amassing a fervent local following. Their buzz caught the attention of Daptone Records, who signed them to their rock imprint Wick Records in 2015. Since then, The Mystery Lights have released a string of albums — The Mystery Lights (2016), Too Much Tension! (2019), and Purgatory (2024) — each expanding their sound while staying true to their raw, unpolished edge.
